The US president says he still expects his second meeting with the North Korean leader to take place. The comment came after the cancellation of a meeting between the two countries’ top diplomats.
Trump said the summit is scheduled for early next year. He said if North Korea wants sanctions to be lifted, it has to be responsive. Trump noted that a meeting between US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and North Korean officials set for this week has been rescheduled but did not elaborated on the reasons. Earlier, South Korea’s foreign minister quoting US officials said it was Pyongyang that asked the US to delay the high-level meeting.
