Assam Eviction violence row: CM confronted on clashes; claims that situation is under control now



As per the latest updates from Assam, days after innocent village civilians were killed in police firing regarding an eviction drive. The state Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has made his statement claiming that the situation of the Darang district is calm, peaceful, and under control now and that a judicial probe will be put in place to punish the culprits. However, he refuses to comment on the PFI allegation yet. He has chosen to maintain a neutral position and has distanced himself from accusing anyone in this case but throws the ball into the Judicial custody’s court, claiming that law will take its own course. Earlier, the CID has arrested two people due to the violence instigated during police firing. Sources suggest that cops lathi-charged the agitators and hit civilians with bullets in an open fire, attacked repeatedly. Among the arrested in this case are sitting and Former panchayat presidents.
