Covid-19 second wave: Rural India records over 50% of the total cases

In the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, rural areas in India have been the worst hit. Over 50% of the total cases recorded in the country are reported to be coming from the hinterland. This surge in cases in the rural areas poses a big challenge for the local administrative bodies, the state governments as well as for the Central government. This spike in cases makes it imperative for them to ensure that areas with abysmal healthcare infrastructure are properly attended to.
