Assam CM-Elect Himanta Biswa Sarma To Take Oath Today, Oath Ceremony At Noon

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to be crowned as the next chief minister of the state after the BJP Legislature Party met in Guwahati to elect its leader on Sunday. Himanta Biswa Sarma will succeed Sarbananda Sonowal as the next Assam chief minister.
Himanta Biswa Sarma was elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Assam. His name was proposed by Sarbananda Sonowal, state BJP president and BJP MLA Nandita Garlosa at the meeting today.
Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar and party General Secretary Arun Singh were present as central observers at the BJP Legislature Party meeting. The meeting was also attended by Baijayant Panda, BJP’s Assam in-charge.
Prior to the BJP Legislature Party meeting in Guwahati, Sarbananda Sonowal tendered his resignation to Governor Jagadish Mukhi.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were on Friday called to New Delhi by the BJP central leadership apparently to discuss the leadership issue of the next government. Watch full bulletin.
