UP Cabinet minister Kamal Rani Varun passes away at 62, succumbs to COVID-19

UP Minister of Technical Education Kamal Rani Varun had tested positive for COVID-19, died on 2nd August at age of 62 at PGI Hospital in Lucknow where she was being treated for the infection. Her last rites will be performed at Kanpur.

She served as the Minister of Technical Education in the Yogi Adityanath government. She was known to be a prominent fighter for women empowerment in Kanpur’s Ghatampur from where she got elected in 2017.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended condolences to the family of Kamala Rani Varun. “She was a popular public leader & a social worker. She worked efficiently while being the part of the Cabinet,” he said.
