TOP HEADLINES OF THE DAY:
1. Fertiliser scam: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s brother Agrasen Gehlot, who runs a business of seeds and fertilisers, is under the scanner in an alleged fertiliser scam. The Enforcement Directorate raided several locations in West Bengal, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Delhi in connection with an alleged fertiliser scam. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s brother Agrasen Gehlot, who runs a business of seeds and fertilisers, is under the scanner in the alleged scam. Customs had unearthed the scam in 2007-08. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s brother is accused of exporting muriate of potash after claiming the subsidy from the Centre on it. The fertiliser is imported by the country for farmers.
2. Journalist Vikram Joshi who was shot in Ghaziabad yesterday, the case has seen a new development where the family stated that a few hours before the attack on the journalist, he had alerted Rajiv Kumar, who is the SHO and the sub-inspector Dhananjay. He told that the suspects were roaming near his house but no action was taken.
Vikram Joshi was suspecting an attack on him and he had informed the local policemen. The question of police protecting these people now comes into the scenario.
The two different narratives framed by the Ghaziabad police and the family members do not match, hence the question as to who will help in providing justice to the journalist still remains intact.
3. Uttar Pradesh Police denies gambling charge against Vikram Joshi. Both the SSP and DM said that they never issued a statement on a gambling charge in a press conference.
Earlier today it was alleged that the Uttar Pradesh Police calls the incident of molestation of the journalist’s niece a fight due to gambling.
Times Now’s Priyank Tripathi said that the Ghaziabad police and they were on the backfoot and have denied putting any allegation on the family when they have said that the victim’s family had a fight with the miscreants over gambling.
Vikram Joshi’s niece recounts the harassment she has been facing. She said, ‘The harassment began 2-3 years ago… I filed the first complaint 1.5 years ago. No action was taken & harassment continued.
4. The latest developments in the US-China relations reveal that China is now considering closure embassy in Wuhan. This decision was taken to counter the closure of Chinese Consulate General. The United States Government had given China three days’ time to close its consulate in America’s fourth most popular city.
China is now struggling to hold its position as the entire global pressure in mounting towards the, Meanwhile, the US State Department has said that the decision to close China’s consulate in Houston was taken to protect Americans’ intellectual property and private information. Due to this unprecedented ignorance, China is now mulling to shut the US Embassy.
