Body of Ivorian Prime Minister Gon Coulibaly Arrives for Burial in His Hometown

A truck decorated in Ivorian flags and carrying the body of Prime Minister Gon Coulibaly is followed by a huge convoy or cars and motorbikes as the deceased is brought back to his hometown of Korhogo for burial, Wednesday, July 15.

Coulibaly’s passing comes a few months before he was to become the ruling party’s presumptive presidential candidate.

President Alassane Ouattara, who led the memorial service, considered Coulibaly to be his successor.

There is currently no clear-cut replacement for Coulibaly, who was widely respected.
