One of Catalonia’s most senior politicians has been warned that his mobile phone has been hacked using a professional spyware that is only sold to governments.
In an investigation, the Guardian and El País report that Roger Torrent, the speaker of the Catalan regional parliament, and at least two other independence supporters were warned about an exploitation of their Whatsapp accounts. Authorities say it’s a “possible case of domestic political espionage” in Europe.
