A former fighter with the Islamic State group has died in a prison run by Kurdish forces in a region of Syria that they control.
The BBC has learned that Ishak Mostefaoui was killed in the notorious Hasakah prison where many IS fighters are held. Reliable sources have said that he lost his life, either in a riot or having been shot while trying to escape.
He had left the UK to fight against the Syrian regime in 2014. His British citizenship was later revoked.
