Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a surprise visit to the Himalayan desert region of Ladakh last Friday amid border tensions with China. Earlier clashes between the two sides at a disputed site left dozens of soldiers dead. Modi was accompanied by India’s Chief of Defense staff and chatted with soldiers and border police.
