Kanpur Encounter Case: Vikas Dubey, a criminal in Uttar Pradesh with over 60 cases against him, was being searched by at least 40 police stations. He remains on the run, more than 50 hours after he led his henchmen in the murder of the eight cops, including a Deputy Superintendent. Police have recovered 15 bombs, 2 kg explosives and six pistols from the house of the notorious Uttar Pradesh gangster. Kanpur’s senior police officer Devendra Mishra, who not only filed the attempt to murder case against Vikas Dubey but also led the police team to arrest the man, was killed with savagery unparalleled in similar incidents in Uttar Pradesh. Initially, the police said the man was dragged into a house of one of the gang members and shot from a point blank range. Postmortem report now says the 54-year-old was shot five times – on his head, chest, stomach and legs. The bullets passed through the body.
