The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson has said that India should not take any action that may escalate the situation. Zhao Lijian, spokesperson at the Chinese Foreign Ministry, in a press briefing, said, ‘India and China are in communication and negotiations on lowering the temperatures through military and diplomatic channels. No party should engage in any action that may escalate the situation at this point.’ The Chinese reaction has come after PM Modi visited Leh today, just days after a violent face-off between Indian and Chinese armies in eastern Ladakh left 20 Indian soldiers martyred and an unspecified number of troops on the other side dead.
