Amid growing calls for his resignation, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Thursday noon met the President of the country. Soon after the meeting with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli went to chair a cabinet meet.

Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli, 68, is also likely to address the nation on Thursday, news agency ANI reported.

“Oli might address the nation today. Time is yet to be fixed but the preparation is being made. It will be decided on after the Cabinet meeting this noon,” sources from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat were quoted as saying by the news agency.

Oli on Thursday went to the Sheetal Niwas to meet President Bidhya Devi Bhandari. This came after top leaders of Nepal’s ruling communist party, including former premier Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, demanded Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli’s resignation, saying his recent anti-India remarks were “neither politically correct nor diplomatically appropriate.”
