The Jagannath Rath yatra will begin today, but the Odisha Government has imposed a curfew-like shut down in the Puri district and also appealed to the citizens to not step out of their homes, especially when the chariots roll out. This decision was taken in the view of Coronavirus pandemic. The curfew started at 9 pm Monday and will end at 2 pm on Wednesday. This curfew-like shutdown will ensure less gathering and will also prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Times Now’s Siddhant Mishra explains more details of the shutdown and what preparations are underway by the State Government to adhere Supreme Court’s orders.
