Sabarimala temple will not be open for devotees; festivals too to be cancelled for this month

Sabarimala temple priest had asked for the temple not to be opened for devotees amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This was declared and announced by Kerala Devaswom Minister Kadakampally a day after the letter by the priest for not opening the temple for the devotees. According to him, it would have been against wisdom to open the temple which was shut since the beginning of the lockdown which was to stop the spreading of the virus. In addition to this, the minister also announced that the Sabarimala temple festival which was supposed to commence from June 19 will not be conducted.
