Advocate files petition to ensure hospitals are restrained from fleecing COVID-19 patients

Supreme Court hears a petition filed by an advocate Sachin Jain who had sought a directive to ensure private and government hospitals are restrained from fleecing COVID-19 patients. With the Chief Justice of India going on to seek the details of Ayushman Bharat scheme. As per the Ayushman Bharat scheme the government is making sure that several categories of people are identified and it will allow people who can’t afford to pay for their own treatment to be covered. Legal Editor, Harish Nair, further informs “Chief Justice has asked a question from private hospitals, where he has asked if private hospitals are ready to charge at the Ayushman rate however, some officials of private hospitals vehemently rejected the suggestion.”
