Hong Kong’s chief executive has criticized foreign governments over how they evaluate national security, accusing them of “double standards.” Carrie Lam compared their reaction to last year’s unrest in Hong Kong with the ongoing violence in the United States. She also defended the Chinese central government’s move to impose a national security law on the city. On Washington’s decision to remove Hong Kong’s trade privileges, Lam said the United States was only hurting itself.
