Salons Reopen In Chennai After Two Months Of Lockdown

Salons and beauty parlours have reopened in Chennai after two months of lockdown. However, the Tamil Nadu government has not allowed air conditioning inside the salons as of now. Masks have been made mandatory for the customers. Salon owners have been told to provide apron and shoe caps to the customers for extra protection. The state government’s earlier guidelines made frequent hand wash and disinfection mandatory. While salons are a relieved lot, both entrepreneurs and workers say the last two months have been difficult as many salons could not pay salaries to the employees for the month of April and May. NDTV’s Sam Daniel visited a salon at Chennai’s Alwarpet, to get a sense from customers and hair dressers.
