“Does the loss of black life actually bother you?” read a sign held by a U.S. man protesting the killing of George Floyd in Washington, D.C. The placard features photos of slain black men and women. “I’m here because I have to,” he added. “Any of these people could be my uncle, my cousin, my sister, my brother. This is family.”
