Museums and art galleries are beginning to re-open around the country after being closed for more than two months.
The pandemic has revolutionised the way such institutions connect with the public, with a shift to digital exhibitions and programs.
And with interstate-travel still restricted that’s likely to continue.
The top museums and galleries are among the biggest tourist destinations but research from patternmakers shows only a fifth of regular audiences would visit at the moment – though they’re more confident doing so than going to a restaurant or performance.
And with the hit to visitor numbers… these institutions will have to make difficult financial decisions to survive.
