Major relief for doctors on contract in Maharashtra as government decides to pay equal remuneration

In what comes as a major relief to the healthcare workers in the state, the Maharashtra government has decided to pay contract doctors remuneration at par with regular staff members. The move is long overdue as the government recognises the contribution of these COVID warriors in helping India to combat the pandemic. These doctors have been working on bond in Coronavirus care centres aiding the state’s healthcare response. Maharashtra has been the worst affected state by the pandemic due to which the government had even invited doctors from states like Kerala to help the overwhelmed health care system.
