Vitamin D supplements, a points-based system and accessible instructions: these are some of the ways NHS employers are protecting BAME staff, who are disproportionately affected by COVID-19.

In a move the British Medical Association calls long overdue, NHS trusts are assessing the level of risk for each healthcare worker, redeploying those who are a greater risk of contracting COVID-19.

Some hospitals are putting in extra protections, like making hygiene instructions easier to understand for migrant workers who may not have English as a first language.
