Congress president Sonia Gandhi will on Friday chair a meeting of the opposition parties to deliberate on the COVID-19 pandemic, migrants’ issue and the economic package announced by the Modi government.
The meeting would be held through video-conference at 3 pm today. The Congress had sent invitation to 18 political parties to attend the meeting. Reports suggest that Nationalist Congress (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader MK Stalin, CPI-M’s Sitaram Yechury, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo and Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Tejashwi Yadav have given their nod to attend the meet headed by Gandhi.
However, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal have decided to skip the scheduled meet initiated by the grand old party.
