During the months-long social unrest in 2019, many police officers had to work around 15 hours a day, up from a normal shift of nine hours. The Central and Western Police District sent a letter to the Central and Western District Council on March 19, condemning the unfair treatment by some district councilors at a meeting. After the District Council elections, the opposition camp gained control of 17 out of 18 District Councils. Tang said, “It is very unfortunate that nearly all the police council meetings have been held in a manner that they focus their attention on political issues and take the opportunity to unfairly challenge police station.” #HongKong #HongKongPolice
