China is ramping up efforts to become the first country to develop a vaccine for COVID-19.

Five Chinese companies have been approved to fast-track human trials, including one that previously tried to develop a SARS vaccine.

But they’re facing intense competition from companies and governments around the world.

China correspondent Bill Birtles reports from Beijing.
