Protesters hit the streets of Lebanon in May Day as government asks for IMF aid

After passing an economic plan, Lebanon’s government have signed a request for assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as the country faces a crippling economic crisis. A statement from the Prime Minister Hassan Diab has called the move “a historic moment”. Protesters took to the streets of Lebanon for a fourth day in a row, during May Day, despite confinement measures to fight the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
