FRANCE 24’s Philip Turle gives us some context on the country’s difficulties as the Lebanese government endorsed a long-awaited economic rescue plan with the International Monetary Fund in a bid to address the escalating crisis it is facing. Iran-backed Hezbollah had once opposed an IMF program but has now given the government a “go” to request assistance. Protesters still took to the streets for a third night in a row, as the coronavirus outbreak exacerbates the country’s woes.
