Puglia is located in the southern part of the Italian coastline and has a population of four million. In the early days of the COVID-19 outbreak, it was hit hard by the pandemic due to a lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical supplies from the Italian government. It was challenging for the medical workers on the frontline, and it also endangered the people.
Luckily, Puglia received help from its sister province Guangdong in the shape of 200,000 face masks, while experienced medical workers and engineers also greatly helped the fight against COVID-19.
“I will never forget this solidarity from great people, from the Chinese people,” said Puglia President Michele Emiliano.
