The United States now has the highest umber of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the world, surpassing Italy and China.

At least 83,000 people in the US are known to have contracted the virus.

More than 1,000 have died.

New York is the worst affected state, while Louisiana is emerging as the latest hot spot.
