Tens of thousands more Australians are out of a job today as the coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the economy.

In a sign of how quickly the official health advice is changing, some new restrictions announced earlier in the week were reversed today before they could be implemented.

A directive to all hairdressing salons and barbers to keep haircuts under 30 minutes has been scrapped. But it hasn’t stemmed the job losses.
