It’s been eight years since the Queen’s historic visit to Ireland – back then she was the first monarch to do so for 100 years.

Now her grandson and his wife followed in her footsteps on a trip to celebrate the UK’s links with its closest EU neighbour.

Their deployment on what can only be described as a sensitive assignment speaks volumes about their status in the royal family, as Rhiannon Mills reports.
