Australia’s destructive summer of bushfires, hail, floods and cyclones has put the spotlight on insurance, with some homeowners reporting premium increases of almost 50%.

Six natural catastrophes have been declared over the past five months, with insurance claims expected to total more than $2.5 billion

With the risk of extreme weather expected to only intensify, industry experts say parts of the country could become uninsurable.
