Three people were arrested and a variety of smuggled wild animals, such as primates, rodents and reptiles, were seized by Indian customs from the Chennai city airport, Tuesday, January 21.
After getting a tip on a wildlife smuggling operation from Bangkok, the authorities were alerted and the passenger who was trying to sneak out the animals was intercepted at the airport.
Indian officials found two marmosets, three tamarins, two rodents, one of which died, two squirrels and 12 iguanas.
The seized animals will be returned to Bangkok. (REUTERS)
