Huawei research center to be shifted from U.S. to Canada
China’s telecom giant, Huawei, plans to shift its research center from the U-S to Canada.
Huawei’s founder, Ren Zhengfei, made the announcement saying the company is going to manufacture some mobile network equipment outside China, as well. Huawei spent over half a billion dollars on the operations of its U-S research arm last year. The U-S Commerce Department placed Huawei on a trade blacklist in May, citing national security concerns. On Friday, the U-S said it is planning to impose more restrictions on the transfer of products made with US technology to Huawei. The firm has previously denied it is posing any risks to U-S national security.
