Lebanon’s Prime minister Saad Hariri has announced his resignation in response to a wave of protests, which have engulfed the country for the past few weeks.
His resignation was greeted with relief in Beirut: people chanted and clapped in celebration of the news. For the past 13 days, protesters have been demanding an overhaul of the governing class and called for an end to corruption.
