China’s week-long National Day holiday comes to an end on Monday and the flow of travelers making return journeys is now peaking. On Sunday, the rail network dispatched about 1,100 extra trains to cope with a load of over 15 million daily trips. The holiday sparked a travel rush beginning September 28 with a total of over 100 million journeys made by train. Meanwhile, heavy traffic is affecting a number of expressways connecting major cities in eastern and southern China. Airports across the country are also witnessing a peak in passengers.
