India Today TV visited Sehore Primary School where the incident took place. Students here said that they are indeed given chapattis and salt as midday meal and there is no criminal conspiracy as alleged by the block education officer, who filed a police complaint against the journalist behind the expose.
The lady cook of the school, Rukmani Devi, stands testimony to the incident. She says that often there is shortage of food or the materials do not arrive on time. She further says that the amount of food materials sent is not enough compared to the number of students in the school. As a result, many kids have to stay hungry.
