A New York police officer whose actions fuelled a national movement against police brutality, will not face charges for killing a black man he was trying to arrest.
The Justice Department made the announcement on Tuesday, five years after Eric Garner’s death.
The officer was caught on video putting the black man in a chokehold, as Garner says repeatedly: “I can’t breathe”.
Protesters have vowed to demonstrate against the dropping of the case.
