Muzaffarpur hospital in Bihar has turned into a horror hospital with the number of deaths of children due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) rising to 93. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Sunday(June 16) visited the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur where maximum number of children have died in the last two weeks due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES), locally called the ‘Chamki’ fever.
Surprisingly, the Union health minister did not find any fault with the lack of facilities at the hospital and backed the doctors for their efficiency in dealing with the crisis. He also advocated setting up of a research institute to identify the reason behind the disease.
