Facebook is one of the world’s most powerful companies.
Every day millions of people communicate and share a lot of personal detail on it.
But Facebook has been struck by a series of crises over privacy scandals, the spread of fake news and the way it deals with extremist content after the Christchurch mass shooting.
Governments around the world are now taking steps to reign in the company, although 7.30 has uncovered evidence that in the past, Facebook has tried to have Australia’s privacy laws wound back.
