The violence has displaced almost 200,000 people.
Both the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS) in the greater Sahara and Jamaat Nusrat Al Islam Wal Muslimin are attracting recruits from the Fulani community, exploiting Fulani grievances against the state and local village authorities, and encouraging revenge attacks.
