Politicians in the German state of Bavaria are trying to win over voters ahead of elections in October.
The Christian Social Union CSU party, which is in a coalition with Merkel’s Christian Democrats, has moved further to the right in an attempt to keep their traditional stronghold.
But polls suggest that could be against the public mood.
